dcomply vs checkDPDP
checkDPDP is a free scanner and a set of small utilities. dcomply is a full DPDP platform with 80+ modules and a virtual DPO service. These are different products aimed at different jobs. Here is when to use each.
Pick checkDPDP when

What checkDPDP does really well
Their free scanner is genuinely useful. It is what a small-business owner should run before signing up for anything paid. The grievance officer and delete-my-data directories are a public good. Their tone is honest, they cite sections, and they call out their own limits. That deserves credit.
If you are a founder or a compliance lead using dcomply, we would still recommend running the checkDPDP scanner on your marketing site as a second opinion. Two scanners disagreeing on something is often the first sign of a real gap.
Where the tools disagree in shape
checkDPDP is a set of small tools plus content. It is not designed to run a compliance programme. There is no queue, no evidence store, no role-based access, no audit trail for internal actions. If you need any of those, you outgrow it fast.
dcomply is designed the other way. It is a platform for running a real programme, and the free public tools are a small part of it. If you never run a real programme, dcomply is overkill. If you do, checkDPDP will run out of surface inside a quarter.
