Verdict

When each is the right pick

Choose dcomply if

  • DPDP and adjacent regulatory work is your primary compliance problem, not a bolt-on to a tax tool.
  • You want a DPO-led product where consent, DSR, DPIA, SDF, and breach are core surfaces, not side modules.
  • You need hash-chained EvidenceChain evidence for Sec. 8(9) DPBI defensibility, not a tax-module audit log.
  • You need DPBI 72-hour and CERT-In 6-hour breach workflows with live countdown.
  • You want a vDPO addon from ₹2,499/mo.
  • You want Rule 3 Eighth Schedule multilingual notices as first-class translation records.

A DPDP-first platform fits organisations where DPDP defensibility is primary.

Choose Cygnet if

  • You already run Cygnet for GST or e-invoicing and single-vendor procurement matters more than depth.
  • You are a CFO-led buyer where DPDP is a compliance checkbox rather than a strategic capability.
  • Your DPDP requirements are minimal (consent notice only) and you have no cross-regulatory exposure.

A tax-suite with a DPDP module fits organisations where tax filing is primary.

What we deliberately do not do:

DPDP is one module inside a tax/compliance suite, not the primary product. Sector-specific DPDP overlays (BFSI Data Governance, POSH, IRDAI Cyber Framework, RBI Cybersecurity) are not their focus. DPO-led workflows (consent, DSR, DPIA, breach) are lightweight compared to a privacy-first platform. If those are what you need most, take that seriously.

Questions we hear about this pairing

dcomply includes a GST Compliance module (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, ITC reconciliation, e-invoicing) but Cygnet's GST product is deeper and better suited to large-scale tax filing operations. If GST is your primary problem, keep Cygnet. If DPDP is your primary problem, use dcomply and integrate.

Yes. Many organisations run Cygnet for tax and dcomply for DPDP + RBI + SEBI + POSH + Labour + IRDAI. The two do not overlap in the primary use case.

Consent capture, DSR intake, and breach forms are present. Depth on Sec. 6/Sec. 7 schema modelling, hash-chained evidence, Rule 3 multilingual notices, DPIA sign-off gates, cross-border transfer records, and self-service data-principal portal is lighter than a privacy-first product. For a CFO-office DPDP checkbox it is workable. For DPO-led defensibility, a dedicated platform is stronger.

dcomply writes every consent, DSR, breach, DPIA, and connector event to a SHA-256 hash-chained EvidenceChain that a regulator can rehash offline against the DPBI export bundle. See dcomply.in/proof. Cygnet uses a conventional audit log.
